Musicals are a great way to introduce children to the arts. There’s so much singing, dancing and acting going on that entertains people of all ages. My boys have gotten used to attending musicals. They love getting dressed up, and anticipating those M&M bags during intermission. We also love all the dancing and singing that is included, we leave feeling happier!
Of course, I wanted to find a theatre that is family friendly. I came across Downey Theatre when I saw that they were showing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Musical. This showing was kid-friendly, so I didn’t feel the need to remind them to be quiet. There were so many children and families in attendance so we felt comfortable. The theatre is smaller so you can have an amazing view no matter where you decide to sit. The seats are spacious and there is a slight tilt down so we can still see even if there is a tall person in front of us. When viewing their site, I loved that they provide special promotions for their Downey residents, so this helps build a relationship with the community. They even have an upcoming show for their local high school students.
Although Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is not showing here anymore, here are several productions coming soon that are kid friendly! There are discounts available if you contact the box office.
3. March 22nd, 2pm – The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along is coming. This is perfect if you have any Disney fans and want to relive the tale while wearing your favorite Belle gown.
Location is key! Downey Theatre is located near several kid-friendly restaurants so make it a show and a meal. Parking is easily accessible and free so it makes it easy to bring the littles.
