Lythgoe Family Pantos – A Snow White Christmas

We have made it a family tradition to attend a Lythgoe Family Pantos at the Pasadena Civic Center. It also usually kicks off our winter break so it is perfect to get into the holiday spirit. If you are looking for a family-fun performing arts event this is perfect! I have a 3 and 5 year old and they will sit through the entire performance because it is so entertaining filled with dancing, singing and projection displays on the wall too! Want a two for one experience? Not only are you getting a pantos but you are also getting a pre-show experience through their Winter Wonderland! Arrive an hour earlier to enjoy a visit from Santa, jumper, photo ops, and games and activities.

In A Snow White’s Christmas the classic story has an additional storyline as Snow White wants to bring Christmas to the town. The actors are so entertaining and provide their own style to the performance. The pantos reenacts classic fairytales but with a modern twist. You will hear current music and trends to keep adults and tweens entertained as well. My favorite happens to be Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child) who plays the evil Queen. She sings a ton of songs including a Destiny’s Child favorite but you have to go to find out! But I will tell you this, she does sing Lizzo’s Truth Hurts! She is funny, full of sass and delightfully entertaining. The boys loved Muddles, the queen’s jester. His character reminds me of a Olaf from Frozen and the kids will love him. At the end of a happily ever after, there is always a Christmas sing-a-long. I love this because both times my boys want to sing and you have that collective effervescence experience that everyone in the entire auditorium is in sync and feeling the Christmas spirit.

Earlier I mentioned the Winter Wonderland so I will go into details because this is one of our favorite add-ons to attending this performance. Upon arriving, your kids will receive a passport that will earn them stickers to give them hot chocolate. The activities include a visit to Santa, a couple of games, writing a letter to Santa and collecting a lollipop. These are all fun activities that you can do pre-show and during intermission. I also love that there are a couple of vendors doing hair and nails if you like this as well. There was also a cool picture screen where you can choose your favorite princess and take a picture with her. The kids were having a blast because they loved seeing themselves on a big screen and all of a sudden a princess would appear. There were also beautiful Christmas trees to take pictures with.

If you are interested in attending a Lythgoes Family Pantos check out the tickets! This is one family holiday event that is perfect for also gifting an experience!
